About
SHUGAVANILLA is an American R&B and Afrobeats singer, songwriter, and CEO of Marnell Records, LLC. She’s a talented performer with a soulful voice and a passion for blending R&B, Afrobeats, and Reggae.
She used to be a Universal Records artist and has toured with legends like Mary J. Blige, Aaliyah, Puff Daddy, and Biggie Smalls. She’s been featured on American TV, major commercials, and even performed the U.S. National Anthem for over 60,000 people at Detroit Tigers Stadium.
Now working independently, she’s reviving her music career and building her legacy through her record label. Inspired by African music, she’s creating Afrobeats and Reggae covers of classics like Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” and Bob Marley’s “Waiting In Vain.”
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS & CULTURAL IMPACT
SHUGAVANILLA has spent two years in Africa collaborating with artists like Harrysong, Oritsefemi, and Magnito. Her single “Good Life” (featuring Magnito) is out on Spotify.
She’s recorded over 30 original Afrobeats songs with Nigerian talents such as Onyii, Godwin ChinNonso Ojembe, Maxwell Chuks, Lord Gabrielz, and Sparrq—creatives who’ve worked with stars like Davido and Masterkraft.
Speaking English and French, and learning Pidgin, SHUGAVANILLA is connecting with African music and culture.
